Transferring babies

There are 17 hospitals within the East of England region. Three hospitals are ‘level 3’ and offer complex or prolonged neonatal intensive care, these are:

1. Addenbrooke’s Hospital
2. The Norfolk and Norwich Hospital
3. The Luton and Dunstable Hospital

Babies will be transferred out of their local hospitals into Level 3 units if they need intensive care.

Babies will be transferred back to their local hospital when they are more stable so that their local hospital gets to know them and that there is room in level 3 units for other sick babies to be treated.

 ANTS mission statement

"With EBS we aim to safely and efficiently provide state of the art care during neonatal transfers ensuring that babies gain access to the right level of care, at the right time, by the right staff."
